about us

OUR HISTORY
The Chobham Carnival Association was formed in 1987 to take over the running of the carnival from the Chobham Luncheon Club. We staged our first Carnival in 1988 with attractions including a May Ball, a May Queen contest and the Carnival itself which culminated a breathtaking display by the Red Devils Parachute Regiment Free Fall team.
Since 1988 we have had Clowns, Camel Racing, High Wire Wizardry, Human Cannonballs, Eagles and Vultures, Battling Cumberland Giants and Death defying Decorators to name but a few. Last we had a blood curdling display from the Knights of the Crusade.
OUR AIMS
Our aim has always been to raise money for the benefit of Chobham village as a whole and many other charities by organising events which attract the Bank Holiday crowds to the village. Local Clubs and societies run stalls around our main arena and keep whatever profits they make to help in their own fundraising for the coming year. Many of these organisations now depend on income from the Carnival to keep them going.
MONEY
The Carnival Association itself is non profit making. Any surplus we make is distributed to local schools, clubs, societies and others at a meeting usually held June to which all those associated with the village are invited. Since we started we have distributed over £35,000 in this way.
