The Carnival Association was set up in 1987 as a way of raising funds for local community groups.
It is supported by the local schools, youth groups, sports clubs, societies and charities (local and national) who run stalls and other activities.
We put on entertainment, including a procession down the High Street and big events on the recreation ground, to attract as large a crowd of ‘customers’ as possible.
We do not know how much money is made for these causes on the day but it must run into thousands of pounds and
over the past 27 years we estimate that the event has raised in the order of £½ million.
According to the Surrey Advertiser the Chobham Carnival is largest fund raising event in the area.
